LG to release a full-touch Windows Mobile 6.5-based smartphone in Korea

LG has recently presented a new Windows Mobile Windows 6.5-based handset in Korea. The device is known by three names: LG-SU210, LU21 or KU2100. Besides the latest operating system from Microsoft, the 210 series has a 3-inch touchscreen with a 240×480 resolution. Its 5-megapixel camera with auto focus can capture photos and video sequences. Compatibility is provided with WCDMA (HSPA) and GSM networks.

The handset also has T-DMB TV tuner to pick free-to-air broadcasts in Korea only. The majority of the storage is provided by the microSD memory card slot. Connectivity is established through Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth built-in. the battery’s operating life has not been made public but it is a 1,500mAh unit.

The release date of the device and the pricing information remain unknown. Whether the device will be sold in the North American market is unlikely, at least in the current form, with a TV tuner included.

Nüvifone M20 gets Windows Mobile 6.5

Garmin and Asus made the announcement of having updated the nüvifone M20 with the latest version of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile – 6.5. The new operating system provides a reviewed home screen, with touch-optimized icons and provided access to a variety of applications available through the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. Users can use Facebook and Microsoft’s My Phone service.

Even if the software was upgraded, the phone keeps the navigation-centric configuration of the previous version. My Phone allows migration of data, automatically synchronization of the content, remotely wipe data, back-up and restore information, viewing photos between computers and mobile platforms. Microsoft`s Greater China region director of the Mobile Team Unit, Mr. Benjamin Tan recently stated that there are currently over 15 mobile phone developers that are going to introduce on the market more than 30 innovative smartphones that operate on the organization`s awaited Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. These mass releases are programmed by the end of this year. According to Digitimes report from Wednesday this week, Mr. Benjamin Tan presented these facts by addressing to a bundle of reports when he made the announcement. Some of the smartphone developer companies that plan to introduce the gadgets endowed with the new operating system we can enumerate: HTC, Acer, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and HP.

The network communications providers that will commercialize the smartphones operating on the Windows Mobile 6.5 version include American Telephone and Telegraph, Sprint, Verizon, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, NTT DoCoMo, Softbank, SKT, and Telstra, for the United States. With regards to Canada, the carriers that offer this upcoming smartphones comprise Bell and Telus.

It appears that the 6th of October is the date on which the new operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5 will be launched along with various handsets that feature it.
