Panasonic takes control over Sanyo http://www.htlounge.net/art/10095/panasonic-takes-control-over-sanyo.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/10095/panasonic-takes-control-over-sanyo.html#comments Tue, 15 Dec 2009 18:46:15 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=10095 Panasonic has recently announced that it will become the majority shareholder of Sanyo. The deal, which has been mentioned for the first in the beginning of November, is worth $4.6 billion and will give Panasonic 50.2% of Sanyo’s shares. Thanks to this deal, the company will go in the top of the biggest electronics manufacturers in the world.

Panasonic, the most important plasma TV manufacturer, will benefit, once the deal is closed, from Sanyo’s tradition in rechargeable batteries and solar panels.

Even if Sanyo has been eager to buy more shares, Sanyo hasn’t agreed to sell more than a minimum percent of controlling shares, as the price offered by Panasonic seems to have been lower than the market price. The deal has confronted a delay because Panasonic had to wait for the approval of antitrust regulators in the USA, China and the EU. The plasma TV maker suggested that they will complete the deal on December 16th.

Nintendo Wii Motion Plus – contact-free Eneloop battery and charging system http://www.htlounge.net/art/9539/nintendo-wii-motion-plus-%e2%80%93-contact-free-eneloop-battery-and-charging-system.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/9539/nintendo-wii-motion-plus-%e2%80%93-contact-free-eneloop-battery-and-charging-system.html#comments Fri, 20 Nov 2009 19:26:15 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=9539 Sanyo has recently presented the new version of the contact-free Eneloop charging system. It is dedicated to Nintendo Wii Motion Plus video game controllers and is an improvement of a similar device released last year. It involves a second controller and the new peripherals and also includes two battery packs and a USB cable that takes power form the USB port of the Nintendo console.

The system is safer to use, even for children, because there is no plug and has the main advantage of eliminating the necessity of removing the protective jacket and the battery cover, as well as the traditional or rechargeable batteries to plug them in. The charger also works for Nintendo Wii video controllers without the Motion Plus attachment because of included spacers. A full charged battery lasts for 6.5 hours and its charging takes three hours and forty minutes.

The Eneloop charger can be pre-ordered now at a price of ¥7,400, equivalent to $80 in Japan and will be shipped in mid-December.

Eneloop Stick Booster charger by Sanyo http://www.htlounge.net/art/9471/eneloop-stick-booster-charger-by-sanyo.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/9471/eneloop-stick-booster-charger-by-sanyo.html#comments Wed, 18 Nov 2009 12:39:37 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=9471 Sanyo recently revealed its new charger, the Eneloop Stick Booster. Sanyo’s device is a battery pack able to plug into cell phones, MP3 players, portable gaming consoles and other consumer electronic devices provided with USB or miniUSB ports. The Eneloop Stick Booster differs from other dry-cell chargers because of Sanyo’s Eneloop batteries allowing it to charge devices requiring high current, like the iPhone, for example.

The charger has an aluminium body that can house two Eneloop batteries, AA-sized, included, and has a slide switch for turning power on or off. The equivalent price of the Eneloop Stick Booster is $34 in Japan. The launch will take place on December 1st. Sanyo has not detailed its plans for international delivery of the Eneloop Stick Booster, but it currently exports Eneloop devices on a regular basis.

Sanyo’s camcorders get iFrame support http://www.htlounge.net/art/8657/sanyo%e2%80%99s-camcorders-get-iframe-support.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/8657/sanyo%e2%80%99s-camcorders-get-iframe-support.html#comments Fri, 16 Oct 2009 11:28:21 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=8657 Sanyo recently launched two new Dual digital camcorders, VPC-HD2000A and VPC-FH1A, these being also the first ones to support the iFrame video format. iFrame is a new video format making the import, edit and share of videos easier. The two new models include a special iFrame video recording mode. Both are already available for $600 (the HD200A) or $500 (the FH1A).

Both models have almost the same specs, the main difference between them being their vertical (HD2000A) and horizontal (FH1A) form. The camcorders are able to take 8-megapixel photos and 1080p at 60FPS, while the iFrame format records at 960×540. Videos are both Mac and PC compatible, the main used formats being H.263 (MPEG-4) video, AAC audio and MOV. There is no internal memory, so all videos and pictures are stored on SD or SDHC memory cards.

The FH1A has a 3-inch LCD screen, while the other model, HD200A, has a smaller one, with only 2.7-inch. The common features include the digital image stabilizer, the Face Chaser technology, which can focus on 12 different faces and the HDMI output. The HD200A gets as well an external microphone input and a special place for an external light or microphone.
