The whole story followed a statement of the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and Acquisitions of Microsoft, Fritz Lanman, who said at the LeWeb conference that Steve Ballmer had attempted to buy Facebook three years ago. He had offered then $15 billion and revealed an in-stage plan to acquire the company, which would have addressed founder Mark Zuckerberg’s intention of keeping control. The latter had turned it down and agreed to only a $240 million stake which let Microsoft get a search bargain.

One of the most important advocates of Twitter, the Windows developer has built it into the Xbox 360 Dashboard and got official applications for Windows Phone 7 and the Zune HD. Mainly a feature add-on for these platforms, Twitter could be directly integrated into the software as a result of an acquisition and would be very probably used as an advantage against Google. The search giant indexes Twitter searches but could lose this feature as a more advanced version would appear in Bing.

Microsoft would also want to have Zune features integrated into in-line media support on Twitter and would consequently downplay other competitive rivals like iTunes in this case.

However, the Economic News from Taiwan brings some light to the Apple tablet rumors. Information offered by this Taiwanese media states that Apple Company will launch on the market an innovative tablet with a 9.6-inch Wintek touchscree. Moreover, the device is featured not with Verizon Wireless, but with High-Speed Downlink Packet Access connectivity. The processor of the Apple tablet is designed by P.A. Semi, owned by the organization.

This information was provided by Dynex, the battery manufacturing company. The organization states that it has concluded a contract with Apple with the scope of manufacturing 300,000 long-life battery packages per month for the new-built Apple tablet. If we were to listen to this speculation, the upcoming Apple tablet will be launched in 2010 in February. The purchasing price for this innovative gadget would be ranging between $799 and $999.
