The possibility of Internet downloads would not exist until at least in May, when the first major update of the system is scheduled. The Japanese console maker had already announced that the 3DS updates were already planned and would be available from the start.

Iwata did not directly explain the delay, but suggested that an overhaul of the online store would be the main factor. The new online store would be significantly redesigned as the browser based DSiWare store was too slow and did not provide the users with the appropriate help to discover the games. As Iwata said, it is very important in digital software distribution to prevent the software of being buried and inaccessible to users. Nintendo’s chief did not give any reason for the delay of the browser.

The Nintendo 3DS could certainly be helped by a new store and therefore any delay could be a significant setback in the attempt of the company to restore its stature. Its steep drop in sales during the holidays has been mainly attributed to the iPhone and iPod touch which had probably lured away some loyal customers. The 3DS comes with a significant increase of the performance and sports some unique features like glasses-free 3D or passive Wi-Fi game data swaps. However, it would not have web access and game downloads as Apple has for its devices for as long as three months.

Google Docs full desktop editor brought to iPad http://www.htlounge.net/art/14303/google-docs-full-desktop-editor-brought-to-ipad.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/14303/google-docs-full-desktop-editor-brought-to-ipad.html#comments Fri, 17 Dec 2010 08:51:01 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=14303 Google recently announced that it had updated its Google Docs in order to bring the full version of this cloud-based productivity suite to the iPad. The company recently updated the mobile version of Google Docs and made it support editing on smartphones. It acknowledged however that the feature was in a way limited. The recently launched version allows iPad users to tweak fonts, styles or formatting the same way as when using the desktop version of the application. The Google Docs spreadsheet lets users insert formulas like in the desktop version.

Access to the new desktop version of Google Docs dedicated to the iPad can be obtained by navigating to docs.google.com from the Safari browser on the iPad. Google warns users that their mobile browsers are not so powerful as the desktop versions and to switch to the mobile versions when they experience any problems.

Four different USB powered devices including the CLON, InSight, MyClone and Titan XS form this line.

CLON is pocket sized and weighs about 4.8oz. It is rugged and resistant to shocks, scuffs and fingerprints. The device comes with automatic backup software installed and is currently available in four versions, with capacities of 250, 320, 500 or 640GB of storage.

InSight is another portable USB hard drive and sports an integrated LCD display, which can show a personalized name permanently, even when the device is disconnected from the computer. Included software provides functions such as full system backup or restore. Optional password protection is also available. InSight comes in two versions, with 320 or 500GB storage capacity.

Users choosing MyClone will receive a palm-sized hard drive that has USB Turbo Speed for better performance over USB 2.0 and preloaded backup software. Storage capacities associated with exterior colour are 250, 320, 500 and 640GB for black versions or 320 and 500GB for those models coming in blue or red.

The Titan XS, the fourth member of the line, is at the same time the smallest of all. The device is equipped with a rubber enclosure and has an internal anti-shock mechanism that protects the data during eventual impacts. The Titan XS is scheduled to be released in February and will come in three versions, with 320, 500 and 640GB of storage capacity.
