The functions are to be controlled by a zoom button placed on the camera body. The lens is intended to solve the problem encountered by users of DSLR cameras when they want to record video footage and at the same time try to zoom manually.

The new motorized zoom will function in movie mode and will allow a smoother and at the same time more controlled transition. Manual zoom can be kept for still photography. It is very probable that the new technology will make its way into the mirrorless camera range of Nikon.

Nikon could release a new camera with external projector http://www.htlounge.net/art/12552/nikon-could-release-a-new-camera-with-external-projector.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12552/nikon-could-release-a-new-camera-with-external-projector.html#comments Mon, 21 Jun 2010 08:37:41 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12552 According to a report from the French magazine, Chasseur d’Images, Nikon is currently working on a replacement for the Coolpix S1000pi camera, which benefits from an integrated projector. Unlike the previous version, the new camera will be able to be connected to computers and also display images like a standard, standalone projector. However, definitive specs for the camera are yet to be known, as well as a name for it.

The next generation of Nikon’s Coolpix cameras is expected to come out in the first half of August. Therefore, the new camera could be out this year. The new generation of cameras could also include a direct, much rumored competitor for Canon’s G11, which will most likely benefit from DSLR technology, even if remaining only a point-and-shoot camera.

New Nikon camera expected in early March http://www.htlounge.net/art/11469/new-nikon-camera-expected-in-early-march.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/11469/new-nikon-camera-expected-in-early-march.html#comments Mon, 01 Mar 2010 19:18:36 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=11469 Apparently, a new Nikon camera has started being teased to the French market, by means of various mysterious cards. The company has begun counting down, starting 8, but also adding some small hints to each card. The first card was saying “I am”; the second one was transmitting another message: “I am fun”; this could suggest a simple, non-professional camera.

The object of the recent teasers is yet unknown. Even if a D700 replacement has been rumored, it is more likely that this won’t be launched, because of the sheer cost and also because of the pro focus. Other sources have claimed that Nikon is ready to release its first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. This is too, unlikely to happen, at least not until the Photokina expo, which will take place in Germany, in September; moreover, there hasn’t been any obvious evidence about this.

On the 5th of March, the card countdown will expire. On the 8th of March, when a morning press conference will take place in the UK, Nikon may announce its future plans.

Nikon will launch backlit sensor camera, new lenses for PMA http://www.htlounge.net/art/11038/nikon-will-launch-backlit-sensor-camera-new-lenses-for-pma.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/11038/nikon-will-launch-backlit-sensor-camera-new-lenses-for-pma.html#comments Sun, 31 Jan 2010 20:30:45 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=11038 Nikon has scheduled to launch at least four new cameras next week, some sources indicate.

The P100 would be the first Nikon camera sporting a back-illuminated sensor which gives much improved performance when working in low light. It is meant to replace the P90 ultrazoom and have a long-ranged 26× lens.

The S3000 and S8000, two designer models, have fewer details given. The S8000 is expected to be the thinnest camera with a 10× lens and would support high definition video. As for the S3000, it would be the low-end device of the series, but it is not certain what it could drop. The Nikon L110 will be the new entry compact camera of the range.

Despite some rumours of a D700 or D90 sequel, interesting accessories would be provided for professionals. Extreme wide-angle shots would be supplied by the 24mm f1.4 prime lens. Wide-angle zoom would be provided by the 16-35mm f4G ED-VR lens. The TC-14E III and the TC-17E III are teleconverters are scheduled but their features are not entirely known.

All these cameras would be shown in early February at a press conference on the 3rd of the month and this does not prevent any unveiling between that moment and PMA.
