Its total shipments are believed to go beyond 500,000 units by the end of 2010, according to DigiTimes sources.

Other manufacturers in the industry are also expected to sell a similar amount of Google TV-enabled devices. Taking in to consideration Sony’s televisions, Google TV might reach over one million households before 2011.

It is notorious that the set-top box market is subject to a significant expansion. A large variety of competing devices would launch before the beginning of the holiday shopping season. The latest Apple TV offering is already shipping. Boxee is going to release its Atom-based Boxee Box. Asustek and Acer are on the way of making similar offerings.

The price of the Revue Google TV is set at $299, but a recent report says that DishTV might offer a subsidized price for its customers, which would mean $179 plus a DVR fee of $4.

Logitech confirms its Google TV box name – Revue http://www.htlounge.net/art/12544/logitech-confirms-its-google-tv-box-name-revue.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12544/logitech-confirms-its-google-tv-box-name-revue.html#comments Mon, 21 Jun 2010 08:29:58 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12544 Some of the questions regarding Logitech’s Google TV box have recently received an answer, thanks to the post of an official Revue product page. Even if the company hasn’t yet provided much information, it has, however, explained that the name choice intends to illustrate the multi-purpose nature of the new Android-based add-on. It is already known that the set-top can do the same things a Harmony remote or a Squeezebox can. The gear maker also said that the name should reflect some sort of multi-act performance, similar to a revue.

Logitech’s Revue will start shipping in late 2010; it will add Google’s TV web and TV integration, as well as control over home theater devices and the possibility of piping music from local Wi-Fi networks through the TV’s sound system. The manufacturer is currently working on some companion Android and iPhone applications, which will serve as advanced remotes.

The Logitech Google TV box now has a name – Revue http://www.htlounge.net/art/12512/the-logitech-google-tv-box-now-has-a-name-revue.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12512/the-logitech-google-tv-box-now-has-a-name-revue.html#comments Sun, 20 Jun 2010 20:23:08 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12512 The new Logitech companion box for Google’s TV platform has finally received a name – Logitech Revue with Google TV moniker. This device is said to combine great features, like web access, cable, satellite content, applications, video calling and others onto a user’s TV.

According to a video on the web, an iPhone or Android application will let users control their own home theater systems similar to Logitech’s Harmony remotes; here, each system component is turned on or off and switched to the appropriate input. Users will also be able to browse through cable and satellite program guides or simply surf the Internet thanks to Logitech’s Revue with Google TV and to their Android-based smartphone or iPhone.

Logitech’s new product will most likely come out somewhere during fall; the price of the device is yet to be known.

Entry Harmony remotes and notebook speakers by Logitech http://www.htlounge.net/art/11546/entry-harmony-remotes-and-notebook-speakers-by-logitech.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/11546/entry-harmony-remotes-and-notebook-speakers-by-logitech.html#comments Sat, 06 Mar 2010 19:36:09 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=11546 Logitech at the opening of CeBIT added a series of accessories to its line-up. The Harmony 650 and the monochrome Harmony 600 represent a new beginning for universal remotes. They do not have the touchscreen of the Harmony One, but have one-button presets for certain common tasks like playing music or watching movies, which reduce the associated steps to one action. The displays of the remotes provide a visual guide for picking favourite channels by selecting their logos or for using less automated functions.

Both remotes can be loaded with device profiles from a Windows PC or Mac and should support any IR-capable home theatre hardware that include game consoles while a compatible IR receiver is attached. The two remotes, Harmony 600 and Harmony 650, are shipped at prices of $80 and $100 respectively.

Computer owners will get the Laptop Speaker Z205 which is meant to provide better audio quality on the road or at presentations and can clip on the lid of MacBooks or most Windows notebooks. The device can provide stereo audio without occupying space on the sides of the computer. Power and sound come entirely through the USB port to keep the connection simple. A travelling case makes possible to stuff the Z205in a notebook bag. The Laptop Speaker Z205 will cost only $40 and will be ready for shipping this month.

Android device from Logitech soon available? http://www.htlounge.net/art/10653/android-device-from-logitech-soon-available.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/10653/android-device-from-logitech-soon-available.html#comments Tue, 12 Jan 2010 17:57:21 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=10653 Recent job postings suggest that Logitech might be working to release an Android-based device. There is a post indicating that the Freemont, California office is seeking a “super-star engineer” to be employed as a developer for Android applications on an embedded Linux system. The engineer would work on a user interface meant for web-based streaming media.

The listing however does not provide many details of the product but the device is a project of the Digital Home Group in Logitech. The upcoming product is scheduled to be available on the market in less than one year, according to the offer.

Another delay for one of Logitech’s devices http://www.htlounge.net/art/10109/another-delay-for-one-of-logitech%e2%80%99s-devices.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/10109/another-delay-for-one-of-logitech%e2%80%99s-devices.html#comments Tue, 15 Dec 2009 19:21:20 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=10109 Logitech has announced the postpone of the Squeezebox Touch for February. They didn’t comment too much on this, giving no reason for the delay. This is not a curiosity anymore, since Logitech has also delayed the release of the media streaming hub, which was initially planned for September, until December.

Squeezebox Touch is the first model in the history of the device to benefit from a touchscreen interface. Moreover, it’s also designed for photo viewing. Users can access both stream Internet radio (such as Last.fm and RealNetworks’ Rhapsody subscription service) and the music collection of a local network.

There has already been released a less complex Squeezebox model, called the Radio. Users can buy it from specialized stores.
