Suspicions have been expressed that Apple would have a front camera to support FaceTime, but the researcher believes that the tablet would have both front and back cameras. According to Kumar, the finished tablets would come sometime next year.

All these assertions are to be verified as they are not necessarily very accurate. However, many rumors say an iPad refresh would occur very soon, maybe early next year.

Apple has made regular upgrades of its iOS devices, usually once a year. It may simply try to schedule any launch closer to late January, which is the anniversary of the iPad’s unveiling rather than accelerating launches. Competition is moving very fast in the tablet space, much faster than it did in smartphones, and has considered the camera as a possible edge. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab sports both a front and a back camera that could be used not only for video chat but also for applications that require a back camera, such as barcode readers or augmented reality.

A lower price could also be obtained by adopting a smaller design. A reduced size could equally solve the complaints of those who consider the iPad that weighs 1.5 pounds as being too heavy and too big for reading.

Microsoft’s new LifeCam Studio webcam brings 1080p http://www.htlounge.net/art/13465/microsoft%e2%80%99s-new-lifecam-studio-webcam-brings-1080p.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/13465/microsoft%e2%80%99s-new-lifecam-studio-webcam-brings-1080p.html#comments Wed, 15 Sep 2010 20:51:46 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=13465 On September 13, 2010, Microsoft launched its LifeCam Studio, aiming for the crown in webcams today. Microsoft’s clip-on camera is the company’s first camera which benefits from a native 1080p sensor and uses a glass lens with autofocus, in order to provide a much truer to life picture. Moreover, the barrel-shaped unit also benefits from a better-than-average microphone and shoots stills at a high 2304×1728.

Just from the start, Microsoft’s Studio offers a mount for notebooks and flat-panel displays and also a tripod mount for horizontal surfaces. The manufacturer officially supports its camera for Windows, even if it’s believed it could also work with Mac OS X on at least a basic level.

The new LifeCam is already available at Best Buy’s online store, under a $100 price tag; the retail side is expected to have the device in store by October.

Canon EOS 60D to be launched very soon http://www.htlounge.net/art/12980/canon-eos-60d-to-be-launched-very-soon.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12980/canon-eos-60d-to-be-launched-very-soon.html#comments Sun, 18 Jul 2010 18:50:44 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12980 The much rumored EOS 60D from Canon could be launched these days. An entry for August 25 found on creativeLIVE’s calendar mentions a special event with detailed information made public on the 13th of July, a date already connected to new mid-range DSLR. The date would be consistent with suppositions of a release this summer. It would make sense if thinking to the run-up on the 21st of September to the Photokina exposition.

The most important rumors related to the EOS 60D have suggested it would be not only a major upgrade to the two-year old 50D, but also to the whole Canon line. The device would have an 18-megapixel sensor, 1,080-pixel video recording similar to the EOS 7D and a DIGIC IV processor. It would also have support for wireless flash synchronization and, most of all, would be the first DSLR in Canon’s recent history sporting an articulating screen as well as a mysterious feature never seen before.

The camera would have a nine-point AF as well as five crosstype sensors. When continuously shooting, the ESO 60D would be slightly slower, with only six frames per second. Its viewfinder would have 98 percent coverage. It would also keep the 50D’s weather sealing against dust and rain.

Sony reveals Cyber-shot cameras with 3D capabilities http://www.htlounge.net/art/12906/sony-reveals-cyber-shot-cameras-with-3d-capabilities.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12906/sony-reveals-cyber-shot-cameras-with-3d-capabilities.html#comments Wed, 14 Jul 2010 12:07:49 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12906 Sony started to unveil three Cyber-shot cameras, the T99, WX5 and TX9.

The T99 is a conventional camera with a touchscreen-driven body and uses a 14-megapixel CCD. It supports 2D sweep panorama. The camera is priced at $250 and will ship in September this year.

The WX5 and TX9 use the sweep panorama mode to create 3D images viewable on a computer or TV, through an HDMI output. A sweep multi angle, composes fifteen different angles in order to create a complex 3D image able to simulate 3D even on the 2D display of the camera.

They both have 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensors, back-illuminated, able to improve their sensitivity when the light is low and playing a key role in certain multi-shot photo effects. There is a new automatic mode which is capable of recognizing whether multiple shots are necessary or not in order to improve the final quality of the image. It is able to shoot twice for natural flashes that use a shot for reference to reduce the so-called “washed-out” effect, and the pseudo-bokeh effect which compares two shots in order to defocus the image’s background like a lens with wide aperture. Both cameras are able to shoot up to ten frames per second in bursts, although a lower resolution is possible.

Both cameras will shoot widescreen 1080i (equivalent to 4:3 1080-pixel) AVCHD/H.264 video. They differ mostly by bodies and lenses. The TX9 camera is the ultra-compact model of Sony and has a 4X (or 25-100mm equivalent) lens and also exclusively touchscreen control. The WX5 comes back to manual controls but has a 5X lens (24-120mm equivalent) with an f2.8 maximum aperture, which is relatively wide.

The WX5 and TX9 will be available this year in September. The price of the WX5 will be $300, while the TX9 will cost $400.

Firmware for 3D panoramas available for Sony NEX cameras http://www.htlounge.net/art/12878/firmware-for-3d-panoramas-available-for-sony-nex-cameras.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12878/firmware-for-3d-panoramas-available-for-sony-nex-cameras.html#comments Thu, 08 Jul 2010 17:22:05 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12878 Sony has recently fulfilled its earlier promises, posting an ALPHA NEX-3 and NEX-5 compact, interchangeable lens cameras update. The new firmware adds a 3D Sweep Panorama mode, which automatically creates a 3D scenery image by simply comparing the depth across a burst of images. Pictures taken can be displayed on any 3D TV and, most probably, on other displays able to recognize 3D standards too.

Photographers also get some extra improvements, which include upgrades to the standard 2D Sweep Panorama mode. Both NEX cameras should be able to start faster in low light conditions and should as well lose less power when turned off.

The new downloads are applicable to any camera which already has the original 01 firmware. Newer variants of the camera which have version 02 installed will benefit from the new features and fixes when purchased.

A new filing containing an image of the device with AT&T branding as well as references to AT&T services like Maps, Family Map or Navigator have given enough clues to point on AT&T as the future carrier for the Vivaz. The main feature distinguishing the new device is the 8.1-megapixel camera supporting 720-pixel video recording capabilities.

The operating system for the Vivaz will be the 5th Edition of Symbian S60. The handset also sports Wi-Fi, GPS and DLNA media sharing, as well as a 640×360 touchscreen. The device is relatively fast thanks to its 720MHz CPU and PowerVR SGX graphics. A memory card of 8GB is also provided. Integration of social networks like Twitter and Facebook is also provided.

The handset has not been announced yet by AT&T, but is expected to be delivered soon by the carrier. The price might be between $100 and $150 if paired with new contracts.

Unlike the previous version, the new camera will be able to be connected to computers and also display images like a standard, standalone projector. However, definitive specs for the camera are yet to be known, as well as a name for it.

The next generation of Nikon’s Coolpix cameras is expected to come out in the first half of August. Therefore, the new camera could be out this year. The new generation of cameras could also include a direct, much rumored competitor for Canon’s G11, which will most likely benefit from DSLR technology, even if remaining only a point-and-shoot camera.

Mirrorless cameras priced down thanks to Samsung’s NX5 http://www.htlounge.net/art/12418/mirrorless-cameras-priced-down-thanks-to-samsung%e2%80%99s-nx5.html http://www.htlounge.net/art/12418/mirrorless-cameras-priced-down-thanks-to-samsung%e2%80%99s-nx5.html#comments Wed, 09 Jun 2010 07:45:42 +0000 adina http://www.htlounge.net/?p=12418 A lower-cost camera was brought by Samsung as an alternative to its NX10. The NX5 camera is equipped with the same 14.6-megapixel sensor, controls and interchangeable lenses as its predecessor, but has a lower price thanks to its displays. The AMOLED screen of the NX10 is now replaced with a regular LCD, while the electronic viewfinder has a lower resolution.

The NX5 camera has been detailed so far only for Europe and should have a price of 699 euros, which is the equivalent of about $859. It is uncertain whether international launches will be available or not. While the Samsung NX10 is shipped in the United States, the NX5 will not necessarily follow it.
