Samsung Japanese Market

The Koreans are retreating.

After experiencing less than stellar numbers in Japan, Samsung has officially decided to pull out of the land of the rising sun altogether. If you waltz into an electronics store in Tokyo, you will no longer find any Samsung products beyond what is already on the shelf.

According to company reps, the rationale for ditching Japan is that Samsung was suffering through "poor profitability" and it just wasn't worth the effort to stay. They won't be selling any more consumer electronics there, but Sammy will still happily supply computer monitors directly to businesses. They will also continue to sell components like memory chips directly to Japanese manufacturers.

This will have "no impact on Samsung's bottom line", because Japan sales accounted for less than one percent of total receipts.
