Apple has recently developed a reputation for creating some rather skinny electronics --I need not remind you of the shuffle and the nano -- but they're reportedly taking skinny to a whole new level with the next-generation MacBook notebook.

The ultraportable 12-inch laptop in the works is said to measure between 0.6 and 0.7 inches thick, and what's more, it's going to weigh in at less than three pounds.

Obviously, there are several concerns that immediately come into play, like the durability of the chassis, the unfortunate possibility of LCD flex, and the possible exclusion of an optical drive. At the same time, let's face it, slim is most definitely "in" and a 0.6-inch lappy will be about as sexy as it gets.

Don't expect any further leaks from Apple, because we all know how tight-lipped Steve Jobs can be.
