Portable Hard Drive From Buffalo With Turbo Mode, Boost Data Access Speeds

Okay, so this isn't nearly as exciting as plunking a powerful Garrett Turbo into favorite hot rod, but you just might be blown away by the sheer speed of this beast. The latest portable hard drive offering from Buffalo comes with something that they call "turbo mode", effectively boosting the data access speeds by up to 20%. Buffalo claims that these mobile storage units -- complete with shock-resisting bumper bodies -- can send those 1s and 0s at a speed of 40MBps.


They have yet to come up with a snazzy marketing name for the product, so for the time being, it's simply being referred to by its model codename: HD-PSGU2. I know, not the catchiest thing in the world.

In any case, while they're not saying anything regarding price, Buffalo did tell us that these portable hard drives will be available in 40GB, 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB flavors.
