Toshiba Gigabeat DAPs Encased in Aluminum

Toshiba Japan has added two more choices to the world of the Gigabeat DAPs, the U102 and the U101. One has 2 GB of memory and the other just one, and if you decode the name you can probably figure out which is which. Most noteworthy about these new machines is that they are encased in aluminum. That makes them smooth, shiny, and probably fairly durable, too. Other than that the devices don't do a lot to get you too excited, though they are nice and functional - they have a 1.1 inch OLED screen, FM radio and transmitter, and the ability to play the expected audio formats. They measure 76.7 x 36.2 x 11.4 mm, and weigh 42 grams. If you happen to be in Japan on or after May 19 then you can buy one of your own for $123 or $150 depending on memory.
