Acer Reveals New Gemstone Notebook Concept

In the world of laptops, it's the little differences that set great designs apart from mediocre ones. Over in Milan, Acer has just revealed their new Aspire Gemstone chassis, a design that will underly a new generation of laptops from the famed computer maker. The Gemstone, as its name implies, is quite curvaceous for a notebook, just like the Creative Zen Stone MP3 player announced yesterday.

Because the Gemstone is little more than a shell, there are no technical specifications to speak of until Acer decides to plunk some innards into that chassis. Based on their excitement, we can only expect that this Acer Aspire will sport some rather formidable features.


On a related note, Acer also revealed the new TravelMate Profile, a 12-inch laptop with more simple and generic looks. The folks at ShinyShiny compare it to some of the Asus offerings on the market. Again, no specs or price.
