If you're the kind of person who has to look down to see what gear you're in, I don't want you to be on the same road as I am, which is why this strange car accessory from TMTuning seems utterly and completely useless. The LCD (available in blue or red to match your car's interior) on the shift knob displays your current gear as you throw it through its paces.

Because different cars have slightly different layouts for their manual gearboxes, this "Indy-Cator" shift knob actually needs to be programmed before it works correctly. This is just a guess, but since this was designed in Germany, the default is probably a configuration that works with BMWs and other German automobiles. I don't really buy into the claim that it "helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 15 percent" though.

Complete with an auto dimmer, this LCD-sporting shift knob is available from TMTuning.com for $169.
