Ready to take a step up from a measly point-and-shoot, but not quite ready for the money-grabbing pit that is the DSLR? Fujifilm has just issued another entry into the ultra-zoom market with their S700, a new camera with 10x optical zoom, a big glass lens, and something they call their "smart" iFlash system, wherein the flash can be adjusted to best suit the background. No more ghosts as subjects.

They've gone with ISO 1600 at the top of the range. Other nifty features include image stabilization, a xD/SD memory card slot, dual shot mode wherein two pictures are taken in rapid succession (one with and the other without flash), 14-pre-programmed scene modes, and a 2.5-inch LCD. The seven megapixel CCD-sporting camera is set to go on sale next month for a very reasonable $249.95.
