Sony Ericsson G705 Kumiko Phone
September 29, 2008

For a while, HTC had a habit of naming its phones after mythological figures.
Sony Ericsson has taken a different approach with the Sony Ericsson G705 Kumiko, naming it after a random Japanese girl. At least, that’s what it looks like on the surface.
In any case, what you see here is the Sony Ericsson G705 Kumiko, a relatively thin slider phone that boasts something called “turbo 3G”. Presumably, the Sony Ericsson crew did something to hop up the speed of your mobile browsing experience, complete with full HTML and a “nifty zoom-in function” for easier legibility and navigation.
Other highlights include a 2.4-inch display, 3.2 megapixel camera, aGPS with Google Maps, WiFi, accelerometer, FM radio, UMA support, stereo Bluetooth, DLNA certification, and your choice of Silky Gold, Majestic Black, or Luminous Black. Look for the Sony Ericsson G705 Kumiko to launch some time during Q1 2009.

All SE phones are assigned names of girls for internal identification during development; an alphanumeric identifier is assigned shortly before market announcement.
These naming schemes are standard practice, and so far they are not meant to be used for marketplace identification. I would love for that to change, but who knows when/if that will happen.
