Dell has officially launched Vostro V13. As it was rumored, the 13-inch system is 0.65 inches thick, the same as Adamo, but it only weights 3.5 pounds and should have a smaller price because of it using Intel CULV platform. It runs on 10W Celeron, Core 2 Solo or Core 2 Duo, which should give better battery autonomy. Dell hasn’t yet mentioned the exact autonomy for the 13-inch aluminum system.
The V13 can still use ExpressCard/34 and 5-in-1 memory card readers, as well as Ethernet, eSATA, USB and VGA on the back.
The system’s price should start at $449, as mentioned before. Its specifications include a 1.3GHz Celeron, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD, Intel GMA 4500 video card and, maybe the most surprising, Ubuntu Linux. The version priced at $599 offers Windows 7 Home Premium OS, running on a 1.3GHz Core 2 Solo, a 320GB HDD and having a 1.3-megapixel webcam. The $649 model offers users better performance, with a 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo and faster 802.11n Wi-Fi versus 11g for the first two versions.
