Acer is supposed to be perhaps the first company to produce computers based on the Chrome operating system. Acer has been working on the design of a netbook since mid-2009, when the platform from Google was announced. The computer is expected to ship in the second half of next year. This rumour is not confirmed yet, but Acer official J.T. Wang’s assertion that his company will be the first to equip a computer with the Chrome OS was seriously taken into consideration and it seems to corroborate with other sources.
The Android was another Google operating system used to equip an Acer computer, the Aspire One, and it was also a premiere. Not very well received because of using a pre-2.0 release incapable of recognizing high resolutions and also being limited in its applications, the operating system has given Acer reasons of developing future netbooks independent of Windows.
