Customers having purchased Dell Latitude E6400 and E6500 have signalled a problem causing their 2.2GHz Intel CPUs to work at only 1GHz. It seems that when a task requires intense CPU activity, like playing videos, this problem occurs. Online forums are populated with numerous such complaints.
The administrators of the Dell forums said that these users have revealed “non-public information” and have banned them from these forums. Dissatisfied owners then wrote a 59-page PDF report titled “Throttlegate” describing the problems they had with their CPUs. Dell has not given a response to these complaints and this makes the netbook owners even angrier, as they still expect Dell to recall the faulty notebooks.
