A new special edition of the TomTom XXL 540S navigator, named World Traveler Edition, has been presented on November 25, 2009. The new version has, in addition to the classical edition, the maps of the US, Canada and also Europe, all stored on the device’s 4GB memory (XXL 540S contained full maps of Canada, US and only a third of Mexico’s maps). The World Traveler Edition benefits from the same 5-inch touchscreen and the standard routing technology from TomTom.
TomTom’s IQ Routes are also included; these determine routes, according to historical speed measurements for a specific time of the day and a certain type of road. The device uses Map Share; thanks to this feature, street names, street direction, points of interest, can all be user-modified. Users can also download user-created content from TomTom’s site.
TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler Edition will be priced at $350 and will be released in the beginning of December.
