Windows 7 helps Acer’s sales

Gianfranco Lanci, Acer’s chief, revealed for the press, on November 26, 2009 that Windows 7 has influenced positively the company’s sales. He estimated that PC sales around the holidays should be 25 percent greater than last year, when sales have been affected by the economic crash, but that they will more likely be almost equal to this summer’s sales. Forecasts have been determined after precisely measuring the feature set earlier.

Dell has also experienced greater sales, but hasn’t yet announced if the company plans for a bigger boost.

These modest predictions coincide to those of Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief, who has also predicted small boosts from the new operating system. Steve Ballmer and PC vendors think that most of the customers will follow their usual PC upgrading cycles and they won’t rush getting Windows 7. Corporate buyers are hesitant too, because they usually need extended compatibility testing and they will surely need to buy new computers in order to upgrade.

It’s December 1st and I am still waiting for my Windows 7 upgrade from ACER. This was my first computer from ACER and it likely will be my last for this and other reasons.
