Casio extended the Exilim cameras series tailored to ruggedized models with the EX-G1 device, which is claimed to be the thinnest camera, measuring just 0.78 inches. The EX-G1 can support drops of seven feet and is dustproof and waterproof at up to ten feet depths for up to one hour. Winter temperatures as low as -10ºC (14ºF) are also supported and allow travellers to use it outdoors during the season.

The 12.1-megapixel camera’s specific feature is an interval shooting taking captures at regular periods. It is useful for people who cannot take pictures (snowboarders for example) or want to create time-lapse videos. The camera has an optical 3× zoom and shoots movies in 480-pixel widescreen, shows fully automatic scene settings and sports an underwater preset. Casio keeps the size small by using microSDHC cards for storage. The EX-G1 will be ready in December and will be available for purchasing at a price of $300 in two colour options, red and black.
