Dell has already begun to take orders for the Adamo XPS teased for several months. The Adamo XPS has just one colour and default configuration, with a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB solid-state drive and a 13.4-inch display. The system is powered by Windows 7 Home Premium loaded on the solid-state drive. The system will use Intel’s GMA 4500 graphics instead of the rumoured NVIDIA hardware. Relatively limited options are available for Adamo XPS – external Blu-ray at $199 and DVD drives at $99. The battery has a 40Wh capacity and can provide up to five hours of runtime.
The Adamo XPS is already available online but Dell will not ship the earliest orders until the 22nd of December, i.e. four months after teasing the system and after the majority of holiday sales have been made. Considered a direct rival of the MacBook Air, the Adamo XPS will leave this one unchallenged for the holiday season.
