SimpleTech – the 2TB external drive that comes from Hitachi

A new range of external desktop hard drives comes in addition of the existing SimpleDrive series. They have capacities of up to 2TB and a Turbo USB 2.0 interface making them 25 percent faster than the traditional specifications, according to the manufacturer. Hitachi’s Fabrik backup software is also included, allowing automatic copies over host PC selected files. There is also a possibility of 2GB free online backup. Hitachi SimpleTech 3.5-inch drives will get a new flagship capacity, the 2TB, 7,200rpm Deskstar 7K2000 drive, which includes the Pro Drive, the Duo Pro Drive, its dual-drive equivalent, which can be set up for RAID 0 and RAID 1, as well as the Hitachi Internal Hard Drive Kit.

The Pro Drive has FireWire 400, FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and 3Gbps eSATA connections. The capacities range from 500GB at $120, 1TB at $170 and 2TB at $300. The Duo Pro Drive includes eSATA and USB 2.0 connections priced at $200 for 1TB, $300 for 2TB and $500 for 4TB capacities. The 2TB Hitachi Internal Hard Drive Kit has a price of $250. The new Hitachi SimpleDrive is available in three versions, the 500GB priced at $100, the 1TB with a price of $130 and the 2TB model, which costs $250.
