A few days ago, Yamaha introduced two new mini wireless audio systems for iPods and iPhones, named MCR-140 and MCR-040. The MCR-140 has a unique feature, being able to play back music wirelessly from iPods using Yamaha’s yAired standard. The MCR-040 has not this feature, but, like the MCR-140, sports an FM radio, a CD player and a front panel USB port, as well as audio jack inputs.
The two audio systems have docks to charge iPhones and iPods and automatically power the systems up when these ones are attached. The wireless transmitter of the MCR-140 allows full controlling of the source device. The yAired is known as not having any delays and as providing better audio quality than that delivered sometimes by Bluetooth wireless audio systems.
Both MCR audio systems have two 4-inch detachable drivers of 15W each. An optional wireless subwoofer kit designed for the MCR-140 delivers better bass sounds. The MCR-140 and the MCR-040 are available in dark blue, light blue, red, orange, brown, white, dark green, dark grey, light grey and pink and have prices of $400 and $280, respectively.
