Brandon LeBlanc, Microsoft official, reiterated the idea that Simon Aldous’ statement that the “look and feel” of the new version of Microsoft’s operating system, Windows 7, would be similar to the Mac OS X interface was “inaccurate and uninformed”. The Microsoft partner group manager Simon Aldous recently made this statement that determined strong reactions from Microsoft’s staff. Windows 7, in their opinion, has nothing to do with Apple’s Mac OS X, but many people observed similar elements, such as the Dock-like taskbar or the Expose-like Aero Peek.
Microsoft’s official Brandon LeBlanc added, on the official Windows Blog, that Simon Aldous was not involved at all in the design of Windows 7. People who decided much of this interface were Julie Larson-Green, head of Windows Experience, and Sam Moreau, who is in charge of user-experience design for Windows 7. The upgraded elements were an attempt to improve Vista’s look or to reach particular objectives, like rendering the aspect of the taskbar, by making it look “energetic and alive”.
