It is already clear that Symbian has no future related to Samsung smartphones. It will be completely replaced with the in-house-made operating system bada. Analysts’ forecast had Symbian use decreased to a few percents and anticipated the complete exit in 2011, but Samsung’s officials decided to eliminate Symbian use in 2010.

The replacement of Symbian with bada is only a part of a more complex strategy meant to boost Samsung’s shipments in 2010 between10 and 20 percent of the 2009 plan of 200 million. Android and Windows Mobile will continue to be used, but predictions say Windows will significantly drop next year and will have a quite small percentage by 2012, probably 20 percent, compared to the today’s 80 percent. The beneficiary of this spectacular decrease will be Samsung’s own operating system bada that will have more than fifty percent.

Symbian depends mainly on Nokia, but Samsung was considered a most important customer, so the blow is a major one. Other important clients for Symbian are Sony Ericsson and many Japanese manufacturers working for NTT DoCoMo.
