M9188 PCIe x16 Octal from Matrox can drive up to eight displays

Matrox has launched the M9188 PCIe x16 Octal graphics card. As many as eight DisplayPort or single-link DVI outputs from a single Windows or Linux computer can be driven be the PCI Express board. The card is single-slot with 2GB of memory and can support up to 2,560×1,600 in DisplayPort mode, 1,920×1,200 for DVI single-link and a 30-inch display on each jack. Matrox hopes that this card will be useful in domains dealing with large amounts of information coming simultaneously, like transportation, process control, energy, financial trading or other frequently and critical tasks. The card is compatible with 32 and 64-bit Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003 and 2008, as well as Linux.

Another card, the M9128 LP PCIe x16, is a more economic graphics card for DisplayPort mode that supports two displays, up to 2,560×1,600 resolution each. It is the economical choice to drive business, government, and industrial applications with extraordinary performance and offers optimal Windows Vista Aero support.

The M9188 PCIe x16 Octal will cost $1,995, while the M9128 LP PCIe x16 will cost $259, both of them shipping before the end of the year.
