The USBConnect Lightning is a 3G modem supporting the AT&T’s 7.2Mbps HSPA network, made by Sierra Wireless. It continues to support 3.6Mbps HSPA as well as EDGE and GPRS. The design of the USB connector is made to fit unusually tight port configurations.
The modem is virtually free. AT&T plans to sell the data stick for $100 with a monthly data plan of at least $35. The $100 will be given back in the form of a debit card rebate. The $35 plan delivers 200MB monthly and coexist with the already existing 5GB service that costs $60.
The modem will be available on November 22nd, just in time for service launches in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte and Miami expected by the end of this year.
