Seiko Epson has revealed the first HTPS (high-temperature polysilicon) TFT liquid crystal display destined to 3LCD projectors that has a 4K resolution, i.e. 4,096×2,160-pixel.

The HTPS panel has 1.64-inch diagonally and will equip small home theatre projectors as well as projectors for big events auditoriums. Epson uses the C2 Fine technology and an original driving method made for the 4K resolution. Brightness and contrast are kept at high standards.

The HTPS TFT resolution is twice as high as that of the full HD panels, i.e. 1,920×1,080. Users will be allowed to watch four programs in full high definition on the same screen. Whether the panel will be integrated into a product commercially available or not and what price it will have are questions to be answered.
