Windows 7 Seems to Boost Sales in a Spectacular Manner

Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer recently revealed a spectacular increase in Microsoft’s sales after launching Windows 7. Early sales have generated more revenue in the first ten days after the release date than any other previous version of the operating system ever. Ballmer said that the first results were fantastic, so there is hope to see all sales records smashed one by one in a very short time. Microsoft is hoping to fix the declined revenue of the previous three quarters. In summer, Microsoft sold more copies of Windows than in any other quarter despite Windows 7 shipping not earlier than in late October.

Even if the first days are so promising, they surely are not very representative. History tells us that surprises can occur. We have to remind Microsoft’s enthusiasm when they celebrated double sales for Windows Vista compared to Windows XP, but shortly after that, there was a profound silence when Vista established maybe the worse record for Windows sales in history. The Microsoft CEO himself has also warned the most enthusiastic that the boost in the sales might not be big enough as many customers didn’t plan to wait for the release of Windows 7 to either buy a new PC or perform an operating system upgrade.
