Sony upgraded the VAIO P netbooks to keep synchronization with Windows developing and they are running now Windows 7 instead of the controversial Vista version. This enables the extra-small Sony netbooks to run much faster. Some updates also refer to a new 2GHz Atom processor and a 256GB solid-state drive, as well as a champagne-coloured shell. The revised models will be available in the stores by the end of November.
The basic VAIO P system will still be available at $850, sporting a 1.33GHz Atom processor, 2GB of internal RAM and a hard disk drive of 80GB. It will also have connectivity through a 3G modem active in the EVDO network of Verizon.
An upgraded version, with a 1.6GHz Atom processor and a 64GB solid-state drive will still cost $1,000, while a configuration with a 2GHz Atom processor and 256GB drive will cost $1,900.
