Five entry-level phones supporting Nokia Life Tools (livelihood aids for customers in the countryside or in small towns) have been recently announced to be released by Nokia. One of these new phones, as well as the Nokia Life Tools service will be launched in Indonesia in December. The other models will be released in the first half of 2010.

The models designed for areas with rough climate and poor electricity are the Nokia 1280, the 1616 and the 1800. They are similar and include FM radio support, built-in flashlight, dust-resistant keypad, prepaid tracker and anti-scratch cover. The battery is designed to last up to 22 days in standby mode.

The other two models, the Nokia 2220 slide and the Nokia 2690 provide Ovi Mail e-mail support, a service that allows users to create e-mail accounts but does not require the need for PCs. Bluetooth, a VGA camera and FM radio are also included. GPRS and MMS networks are supported by all models. They have enough storage space to retain up to 1,000 contacts. The standby time for the Nokia 2220 slide is 20 days, while the battery of the Nokia 2690 allows a 13-day standby time.

The prices for the five very low-cost Nokia models will be $30, $36 and $39 for the Nokia 1280, the Nokia 1616 and the Nokia 1800 model, respectively. The Nokia 2220 slide will cost $67 and the price of the Nokia 2690 handset will be $80. All these prices are contract-free.
