New AMD Desktop Platforms Scheduled for 2010

Two desktop platforms are announced by the chipmaker AMD for May 2010. They are named Leo and Dorado. The leak of information is from the motherboard makers and is referring to the types of chipsets used.

The Leo Version will be based on the 45-nanometer Phenom II or the six-core Thuban CPU in combination with SB850 southbridge and 890FX or 890GX northbridge chipsets.

The second version, the Dorado, will have an Athlon II CPU, an SB810 southbridge and an 880G northbridge (RS880P) chipsets.

AMD will also include its ATI Radeon HD 5000 graphics chipset for each of the two platforms.

To date there is no pricing information for the AMD new platforms.
