The ex-codename Rachael, now called X10, will be the new flagship smartphone of Sony Ericsson. Built upon the Sony Ericsson’s UX “Open OS” platform, the X10 will hit the market next year, in the first quarter, and will feature white and black colour choices. The new smartphone is designed for GSM networks, but carrier and price information haven’t been mentioned yet.

The X10 interface will allow YouTube, recorded videos and PlayNow to be accessed from the Mediascape area. Other media content, such as photos, text messages, e-mails, Twitter and Facebook can be managed or browsed through the Timescape utility offered by the interface. There is also an “infinite button” combining, as a single view, various interactions for a person, when facial recognition matches pictures to the phonebook automatically.

The X10 is an Android-based device, featuring a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen sporting a 480×854-pixel resolution and an 8.1-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash.
