Acer Liquid’s technical specifications have been unveiled at a conference in France and it seems that the device’s Qualcomm SnapDragon processor which has a 1GHz clock has been limited to only 768MHz. The same processor is used at its nominal speed of 1GHz in Toshiba’s TG01 and HTC’s Touch HD2, and even in Acer’s OneTouch as well.
The device will be powered by Android 1.6 and will be upgraded to Android 2.0 next year. The handset has a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display and an 800×480 resolution. The internal memory is 256MB of RAM. The device has a five-megapixel camera with auto focus. HSPA network compatibility is provided, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a GPS sensor and a 3.5-millimeter headset jack. Longer battery autonomy is promised for intense users.
About $520 is the price of the Acer Liquid in Europe, not taking into account carrier subsidies. The release date of the phone is scheduled for this year.
Qualcomm has indroduced the snapdragon CPU at a lower speed into the lower cost 7000 series chips. The faster CPU are the 8000 series chips.
