Verizon offers a series of netbooks, including HP Mini 110 and Mini 311, as well as the Gateway LT2016U and is completing it with the Sony VAIO P which will be the smallest and the lightest in the series, according to Phone Arena information. The VAIO P Series LifeStyle PC will be a standard 8-inch netbook with a built-in modem supporting both GSM and EVDO. It is said to be the lightest 8-inch netbook in the world, weighing only 1.4 pound. The netbook is said to have a 160GB hard drive, an unusual large storage device for VAIO P. This could also mean we have to expect a new model for Verizon. Windows 7 Home Premium is the operating system for this model.
The shipping date is announced for the 5th of November. The netbook is supposed to be priced at $300 with a two-year Verizon contract, including a $100 rebate, like all other Verizon netbooks do. The subsidy offered by Verizon is substantial enough, as typical prices for a VAIO P start at $850.
