NEC is working to a prototype tablet PC, and it seems resemble more closely to a mobile World Wide Web device thanks to its styling. It will sport a touchscreen display of up to 8 inches with three interface buttons on the side and is meant to operate more towards a full-fledged PC. There are still no technical specifications revealed and the mock-up showing off Android might not be reflective of the final design. NEC is planning to create this tablet for businesses: inventory management, retail and food services.

NEC has mentioned the device’s speedy boot up time which might indicate cloud computing as part of its specifications. The device will provide some form of Wi-Fi or 3G data network access.

Plans are to start selling the tablet in Japan very soon, but no concrete prices or release dates have been unveiled by now. NEC estimates selling the device between 100,000 and 200,000 units a year and hope to eventually hit 1 million units annually.
