According to Peter Schneider, boss at Maemo marketing, the release of Nokia’s new smartphone, N900, will be delayed to November. The one month delay is most likely caused because of Nokia’s awaiting for some feedback from the software developers, who have received 300 units of the N900 to test their dedicated applications on. N900’s launch will be a premiere for Nokia, being the first smartphone to use an open-source Linux operating system.

The new smartphone will benefit from a 3.5-inch touchscreen, with great resolution (800×480) and also from a slide-out keyboard. N900 will most likely have full Flash 9.4 support. The 600MHz ARM Cortex-A8 CPU and the new graphics chipset supporting OpenGL ES 2.0 features are some of the most valuable specs of the new smartphone. Other important specs are the onboard GPS, Wi-Fi, 256MB of RAM and HSPA 3G support. The camera has 5-megapixel. The new smartphone has an internal 32GB-memory, which can be enlarged with an up to 16GB microSDHC card.

The price of an unlocked unit of the new N900 will go around $750.
