The French-based company Dane-Elec recently announced the So SuperSpeed series of HDDs and SSDs, supporting USB 3.0 standard. Data transfer speeds ten times the rates USB 2.0 allow, meaning up to 250MBps, will be provided by the new series of So SuperSpeed devices, including USB 3.0 HDDs ranging from 500GB to 2TB, in 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch formats, as well as 80GB and 160GB SSDs Intel M-25 re-branded drives. Prices will start at $180 for the 500GB capacity HDDs, 750GB, 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB versions also being available. The SSDs will be priced at $400 for the 80GB model and $800 for the 160GB version. December 11th is the date when the So SuperSpeed drives from Dane-Elec are scheduled to be released, the same day of the launching for USB 3.0-compatible PCs and laptops.

Considering the lack of integrated USB 3.0-equipped laptops or PCs, the company also intends to provide USB 3.0 adapters for PCIe at $45 and ExpressCard at $50, designed to allow faster speeds to these older devices. They will soon be taking on the US market.

The new-designed external hard drives are meant to handle very large amounts of data with optimum speed for storing and transferring music, videos, photos and other media.
