Motorola Droid – Google’s Secret Weapon against iPhone

Seeming to be Google own-designed, Motorola Droid will certainly be a tentative to beat iPhone’s popularity. Like in the case of T-Mobile G1, another Android device, Google was perhaps directly involved in specifying what kind of device they wanted to be manufactured by Motorola in order to increase its chances in successfully competing with Apple’s iPhone.

Google’s directions have leaded to a top device, a very fast Texas Instruments OMAP (Open Multimedia Application Platform) ARM Cortex-based processor (500MHz CPU), with a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive screen, touch-sensitive, and an extremely thin design, only a little thicker than the iPhone 3GS, but including a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Available in black and titanium colors, Motorola Droid can be docked in a special station and thus become a mini data processing station.

With Facebook integration and a significantly improved browser, the Droid is for sure the peak of Android 2.0 technology, more impressive than any iPhone model, as the first tests performed already revealed. The Droid even surpassed another Motorola top creation, the Cliq, released to T-Mobile customers. Unlike iPhone, which is not provided with multitasking, a high resolution camera with night sensing mode and software development possible are the features that the Droid Motorola phone comes equipped with.

Verizon seems to give up promoting the Research in Motion BlackBerry Storm 2 as its admiral ship and is trying to launch a major campaign for Motorola Droid before the official release in November, this way hoping to offer a tempting alternative to the iPhone for its subscribers and, more than that, attract customers from the rival AT&T.
