Two new models of external hard disk drives have recently been added to the Data Locker family, already including a 320 GB and a 500 GB model. The new versions of Data Locker have 1 TB and, respectively, 750 GB capacities. Their prices are $650 for the 1 TB and $490 for the 750 GB model. The other two older versions were $390 (500 GB) and $294 (320 GB).
The new drives, like the previous ones, use AES hardware encryption with six- to eighteen-digit PIN passwords. An LCD keypad is provided for password input, drive dismounting or erasing and toggling of keytones. The LCD keypad provides maximum security by randomly placing numbers and preventing others to see the password when it is entered. There also is a detection system for physical attacks, which is able to wipe the contents of the drive before the case can be opened by force.
Powering for the 2.5-inch SATA drives is assured only by the USB port. The Data Locker hard drives of Origin Storage are compatible with the operating systems Windows and Mac.
