On October 14, 2009, Acer announced the new Liquid, which pretends to be the fastest smartphone available on the market. It is the first Android phone through Acer’s history. It’s one of the first Android 1.6 phones, as well as the first Android phone having a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Its 1GHz chip makes it faster than Samsung’s 800MHz Moment, also sustaining the 800×480 touchscreen, Android’s web browser and the 3D feature.
Although Acer is new in using Android, the company promises a user-friendly interface, with better shortcuts to different applications, better camera interface supporting ISO sensitivity changes and geotagging, a Spinlet application for music and videos. The new Liquid offers easy access to social networking applications, such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as Picasa, Flickr and YouTube.
Full specifications of Acer’s Liquid are unknown up to this date, as well as the release date and price. Despite these facts, Acer recently promised to launch its first Android phone before the end of 2009. It has been rumored that Acer even planned to give up producing most Windows Mobile phones beginning next year, preferring to focus on the new Android phone.
