Archos 5/160 GB Sales Frozen by Amazon

It seems that Amazon has stopped the sales for Archos 5 Internet Table 160 GB, describing the product as being “under review”.

This might have been caused by a firmware update wiping out some pre-installed Android applications.

However, the slimmer 32 GB is still available for ordering and another model, the 500 GB, continues to be up for pre-ordering.

The users’ opinions are mixed. Some of them have put consistent complaints about bugs and lock ups, software issues that could affect the other models in the line. Others are going so far as to suggest Archos has used some of its customers as Beta testers.

As nothing seems to be structurally wrong with the device, a firmware update could remedy everything, so it could be just a matter of time for Archos to release un update.

This anyway doesn’t sound well for Archos as they are in transition to their new operating systems and products.
