Recently, Google Maps has been searching for sources that can provide detailed information about the changes in the physical world, such as new roads, water bodies and more, the result being the new base map dataset released by Google. This is their first time engaging user input to make maps more detailed and precise.
Due to information provided by the USDA’s Forest Services and the US Geological Survey, Google has made significant updates to its maps. Also with the purpose of upgrading Google Maps, a new tool has been added that enables users to communicate directly with Google about any new piece of information they wish to make known.
On Google Maps, you’ll now notice a “Report A Problem” link to the bottom right of the map where you can easily let Google know if there have been changes to a particular location, destination or roads. The information will later be checked with other users of the same area and Google will decide within a month whether to edit.
