Last Friday, T-Mobile made a statement regarding the first United States 3G network which provides support for the HSPA+. At present, the new 3G network is functioning in Philadelphia through the means of 20 cell sites. This innovative technology endows the carrier T-Mobile with the top-speed mobile Internet in all the United States, reaching peak speeds for downloading of 21 megabits per second and of 5.76 megabits per second for uploading. Even if it is common to notice that current speeds tend to be lower than what it is usually claimed, these stated peak speeds are three times higher than those American Telephone and Telegraph carrier currently released. The competing network communication company offers to its customers a network project that grants them peak speeds of just 7.2 megabits per second, much lower compared to those of T-Mobile.

Even though T-Mobile promised an unveiling of the new technology service in the year 2010, this earlier release came as a huge shock. However, the mobile carrier did not mention in its statements anything about mobile phones and network adapters. According to T-Mobile`s Vice-President of senior engineering, Mr. Neville Ray it seems that there is a small limited number of gadgets that can recognize the added bandwidth, but the 3G update can be implemented to cell sites through software.

There is a specific figure denominating the number of carriers that actually released the HSPA+ 3G. Among them a multi-city Rogers release took place in Canada. Nonetheless, American Telephone and Telegraph made an official announcement regarding its strategy to not use this technology in the favor of the upcoming 4G. American Telephone and Telegraph plans to remain at speeds of 7.2 megabits until the year 2011 when the 4G service will be lunched. T-Mobile also wants to use the 4G technology around the time it is launched as well. This organization was the last major United States` company to make use of the 3G service and put it at its customers` disposal in 2008. However, these new announcements mean that T-Mobile is enlarging its network.
