What would you answer if you were offered the chance to bring coverage to American Telephone and Telegraph zones that still do not have connections to the network communication facilities thorough your personal internet bandwidth?
Only thorough the use of HSPA is not enough for these dead coverage zones. What all carrier companies should observe is that by using the femtocells to assure connectivity for its users, the business organizations would increase the number of retained customers and thus, make profits. However, American Telephone and Telegraph does not make full use of its innovative device, the 3G MicroCell.
Compared to American Telephone and Telegraph, Sprint carrier provides the Airave gadget that costs $4.99 per month. However, this service is free if the customers show the intent to leave the carrier for a competing one. They receive the offer of untimed use for $10 per month. Rival company, Verizon does not offer an unlimited option of making calls, but does not charge anything if the customer actually purchases the device.
Competitor T-Mobile assures an offer of untimed calling supported by its HotSpot@Home Wi-Fi service, charging $9.99 per month. Finally, American Telephone and Telegraph is said to charge for unlimited calling up to $19.99 per month if the customer does not have Internet connection or landline service. If these services do exist, the user will pay only $9.99 per month. Moreover, if the customer has both the Internet connection and landline service, using the 3G MicroCell is cost-free.
After making this competitor analysis, we discover that is really a shame to charge as much money as American Telephone and Telegraph does for the 3G MicroCell. It`s really great to have unlimited calling options. However, taking into consideration that landline services are a much nowadays and the femtocells should represent a feature that speeds up these services, the strategy of the carrier company is not a good one. Even though no official statements were made yet, speculations and papers that appear on this matter seem to harden the idea that these are the real figures in American Telephone and Telegraph`s 3G MicroCell offer.
