Play-Station Portable Minis appears to be limited by Sony in a way that gets these new devices in an impasse compared to its competing substitutes such as the iPhone applications. This strategy was announced by the organization at the Game Developers Conference which took place on Thursday. The games supported by the Play-Station Portable Minis will go under a sped-up acceptance process different from the traditional Play-Station Portable gaming applications. However, the games have an interdiction on using network specifics and do not have a downloadable content. Furthermore, according to Sony Company, these games do not provide support for external peripherals.

Due to the fact that during past announcements and the presentation from the Game Developers Conference Sony compared its new gadget to Apple`s applications, the decision to limit the Play-Station Portable Minis features is a very unusual one also taking into consideration the tiny sizes and small purchasing prices for a high number of games dedicated to Sony`s new model of Play-Station Portable. This decision give a competitive advantage to the games dedicated to iPhone and iPod touch because they provide support for networking, Internet access for downloading other features of a specific game and can also make use of third-party external peripherals designed for these two Apple products.

In response to Apple`s portable gaming gadgets, Sony came with applications that could be downloaded. However, even though the organization has this online support for its devices, the strategy of limiting the Play-Station Portable Minis applications by undergoing a complete approval decision making process and pursuing the evolution of physical UMD games make us think about fewer but higher in quality games for the innovative portable Sony product. But with this strategy, the purchasing prices for the games supported by the Play-Station Portable Minis increase up to $30 or $40, a thing which may not prove to be a cost-effective strategy compared to the organization`s competitor, Apple. Apple`s games can be acquired from the App Store at purchasing prices below $10.
