OWC, manufacturer and retailer for Mac products, presented its first solid state drives which are part of Mercury On-The-Go Pro line. The company introduced the SSDs as being the cost-effective variant comprising FireWire 800/400 or USB 2.0 operated gadgets among its competitors.
The solid state devices come in a 64 gigabyte version, a 128 gigabyte one and a 256 gigabyte variant. Every SSD can transfer at a speed up to 100 megabytes per second the data needed. Every 2.5-inch SSD has storage of 64 megabytes for data. Another advantage of the solid state drives is the fact that they are compressed with no parts that may move, making the gadget very resistant, efficient and less noisier than normal hard drives. Moreover, the portable SSD is much more resistant to high or low temperatures.
The OWC`s solid state drives comes with various features such as: Carbon Copy Cloner, ProSoft Engineering, Data Backup 3, Nova-Stor Nova-BACKUP and Intech SpeedTools Utilities. The endowed drives vary in price according to their capacity as follows: the 64 gigabyte SSD is priced at $280, its double, the 128 gigabyte at %450 and, last but not least, the 256 gigabyte SSD at $730.
