Apple`s “It`s only rock and roll” event in San Francisco may be blurred by the fact that the prices on the company`s products, iPod Touch and iPod Nano are decreasing. This may be the result of the organization`s strategy to bring an upgraded iPod product in to market or even a whole new iPod product line.

Taking into consideration rumors, one may come to the belief that the 8-gigabyte iPod Touch can encounter a fall in prices from $229 down to $189. However, the official acquisition cost for this product still remains $229.

Screenshots reveal a similar trend in the price range of the 16-gigabyte and 32-gigabyte iPod Touch models. The selling price for the first device is said to fall from $299 to $249, while for the latter rumors state that it will drop down for approximately $120, from $399 to $279. Even if we take into account this statistics, in real terms prices remain still. Moreover, the 16 GB model is not part of the event. Its successor, the 32 GB model and an updated model of this, a 64 GB iPod Touch will be presented in the event that takes place in San Francisco. A competitive advantage for these two models is the fact that they will be almost 50% faster than their predecessors.

Regarding the iPod Nano, price stability is also affected. The 8-gigabyte model encountered a fall in prices from $149 to $129 and its doubled successor, the 16-gigabyte product showed a drop of $40 from its original selling price of $229.

Analyzing these data one can only assume what really happens with Apple and guess if this is a new pricing strategy developed to meet the marketing campaign for a new astonishing model on the behalf of the company.
