Contrary to its success derived from a partnership with Windows Mobile in order to create XPERIA X1 smartphone, it appears that the awaited XPERIA X2 will be the last Sony Ericsson product equipped with a Microsoft Windows platform. This sudden change in the approach of the organization seems to the cause of Sony Ericsson`s unconcern for its relationship with Windows Mobile.

Even if this information has not been confirmed by any of the two companies, rumor has it that the XPERIA X3 smartphone will be endowed with Google Android platform. Moreover, it appears that the Sony Ericsson Satio will be equipped with Symbian S60.

This course of decision making on behalf of the SE Company does not mean that the organization is changing one supplier after another. It is merely an attempt to diversify, spread its area of influence and have various opportunities. Only future will tell what options Sony Ericsson has and what new products it will create. One may even come to ponder upon a customized Linux operating system for one of the company`s smartphone models.

It is not known if the first model of smartphones XPERIA 1 will be upgraded with the option to update itself to Windows Mobile 6.5 version of if XPERIA 2 will be also endowed with this ability. Nonetheless, it is clear that Windows Mobile 7 will not be an option for future Sony Ericsson products.
